The Beauty Of The Job!!

There are people who find no glamour in being an aircraft mechanic. There are people who really dislike being aircraft mechanics. As a matter of fact those people most likely outnumber the ones that do. Every now and then you find a guy who enjoys what he does and can also see beauty in an otherwise drab dingy job. When 666 emailed me this pic I said to myself "here is a guy with talent". This pic is beautiful! I already can tell he enjoys his job just by working with him but he can also find beauty in a not so easy task such as changing an engine. Takes talent!

  1. Fixing airplanes isn't where I get the thrill. I get it from just fixing anything that's broken. It can be an L-1011 down to my stove. Taking something that is broken and making it work again (and maybe figuring out how it does what it does along the way) is what I love to do. "Nuff said!

  3. It's not that I dislike working on airplanes insomuch as I dislike working with fellow mechanics who think they're better, smarter, more skillful, or more knowledgeable than their peers. Having been in the industry for a number of years I can attest to the talents and humility of many individuals I've worked with in the past and present. Contrary to those people are the individuals who make the workplace miserable with their boastful, paternalistic, egotistical ways, always having something negative to say about someone, whether it be to their face, or behind their backs. For those of you who take pride in your work, don't get involved in the cliques, office politics and just want to do a good job and fix airplanes, I salute you--you're the ones that make this career choice wothwhile and rewarding.

  4. Comment #3 sounds like someone who is not a good mechanic. The downside of being better than everybody else is that people tend to assume you are pretentious.

  6. humilty and being willing to help others as opposed to sitting on your ass and talking crap about everyone goes along way - just 'cause you can make a million comments about incompetent everyone else doesn't make you competent - if they weren't pretentious they'd be out there instead of pointing fingers and thinking they walk on water!!
